Athletics - Philosophy Our physical education program provides students with the opportunity
to acquire knowledge of team and individual sports play, to develop
skills in selected sports, to maintain and/or improve health related
fitness, to learn in an environment that provides successful development
of proper social, emotional and mental attitudes and to become empowered
to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for
a healthy, productive life. The content includes but is not limited
to the following: safety practices, assessment of health related
fitness, skills, techniques, strategies, rules, assessment of basic
skills, consumer issues, and fitness activities. Activities may
include but are not limited to the following: basketball, flag football,
gatorball, soccer, softball, track and field, ultimate frisbee,
team handball, floor hockey, volleyball, pickleball, rocball, netball,
yoga, swimming, tennis, cooperative activities, bowling, badminton,
lacrosse, weight training, and development of basic jazz and modern
dance techniques. Students are involved in learning dance warm ups
and stretches to improve flexibility as well as abdominal strengthening. |
