The violence of the past week has caused a range of emotions in all of us. As we struggle with what has taken place, we recognize it as a call in this time and place to do more, to work together in peaceful ways for change. It is our responsibility to make this a better world for our children and future generations. There is much work ahead for our country and for each one of us.

During this time of Pentecost, we ask the Holy Spirit, who united people of every race and nation, to guide us in all of our words and actions. We ask the Spirit to give our leaders and each one of us wisdom, understanding, and courage to challenge one another to face fears and prejudices, to work together to wipe out racism, to alleviate injustices, and to seek equality for all people everywhere.

Nazareth Elementary, as a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph, joins in their commitment to strive for an end to racism and violence by working toward peace, healing, and reconciliation.
