Nurse's Office

  • At Nazareth Elementary we know that healthy kids are more successful in school. We are blessed to have two school nurses who work to support the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of Nazareth students:

    Kathy Knope
    Ms. Kathleen Knope
    Monday, Tuesday
    8 a.m.–3 p.m.
    kknope@nazarethschools.org

    Sister Marlene
    Sister Marlene Pape, SSJ
    Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
    8 a.m.–3 p.m.
    mpape@nazarethschools.org

Our nurses provide direct health care to students, and they serve as the liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers. They work in cooperation with Gail Burkland, RN, from Rochester City School District, for compliance with the New York State Health Department’s policies and procedures.

If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office by 9 a.m. If we do not hear from you, the nurse will call you to verify the absence.

Please review this letter from Sister Marlene for details on documentation required after your child returns from an absence, and be sure to complete the Daily Health and Wellness Check for Home each day before sending your child to school. Not sure whether or not your child can go to school today or when they can go back to school? This NYS Department of Health Flowchart will help you decide.

We are required by law to receive written excuses and to keep these on file for a year. Without a written excuse, a child must be marked illegally absent.

Please feel free to call the Nurses' office directly as needed:
