Creating A Safe Environment – Volunteer Training

  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Nazareth!

Children are among the most important gifts God has entrusted to us. In 2002, the bishops of the United States signed and pledged to a Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

In the Diocese of Rochester, Bishop Matthew Clark mandated an educational program that has existed since 1994. According to the Charter and mandate from Bishop Clark and Bishop Matano, it is stated that all volunteers who work with children or youth are required to complete a criminal background check, participate in an online training program, and sign a Volunteer Code of Conduct and Release for the Background Check.

As a school located in the Diocese of Rochester, we are mandated to have every volunteer trained before beginning any service in our school. We take the responsibility to protect all children, youth, and vulnerable adults very seriously. Nazareth Elementary participates, along with Aquinas Institute, in the diocesan required training program offered through Praesidium.

NOTE: In order to take the online training, you will need to send your name, email address, and month and day of birth (not year) to Sister Dolores Ann Stein at: dstein@nazarethschools.org

If you have any questions about the training, please contact Sister Dolores Ann Stein at 585.458.3786, ext. 3104, on any Tuesday or Thursday, or send her an email.
