Art
All Nazareth students from Preschool to Grade 6 attend Art class once each week. Our art facilities include a studio for painting, drawing, and other visual arts.
Art classes encourage creative thinking and cultural awareness, as well as fine motor, cognitive, and problem-solving skills. Most importantly, Art classes encourage imagination!Technology
Nazareth’s facilities provide outstanding opportunities for students to learn with technology. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 have Technology classes once each week in a state-of-the-art media lab, but technology instruction isn’t limited to that one class. A portable computer lab is available for Nazareth teachers to use in their classrooms, and each classroom is equipped with SMART Boards and computers. Nazareth is using Chromebooks with students in the Academic Intervention Services Program.Dance
In addition to Physical Education, all students at Nazareth attend dance/movement classes once each week. These classes build balance and coordination, confidence, and self-esteem.Music/Chorus
The halls are alive with the sound of music at Nazareth Elementary! Students attend music classes once each week with their classmates, and chorus once each week with students from other grades (Pre-K and Kindergarten; Grades 1 and 2; Grades 3 and 4; Grades 5 and 6). The musical talents of Nazareth students are showcased twice each year, at a Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in June.
Students in Grades 3–6 also have the opportunity to participate in an after-school Children’s Choir, which performs at school and community events throughout the year.Library
Curriculum in all subject areas and at all grade levels is enhanced through Library studies for students at Nazareth. Instruction for younger students is focused on reading motivation and literacy skills. Students in upper grades develop research skills utilizing a wide variety of media resources. Students in Grades 3–6 have the opportunity to participate in a citywide Storytelling Contest each spring*.Physical Education
Nazareth students have Physical Education classes twice each week in our gymnasium, learning skill and movement concepts which are reinforced through various sports and physical activities.
